Experience Mexico.
Then sell it.
A curated fam trip program designed exclusively for North American tour operators and travel advisors. No all-inclusives. No resort inspections. Real Mexico — culture, nature, community — operated by the people who run it every day.
Not a resort tour.
A real operations experience.
Why Hola Colega Fams exist
Most fam trips in Mexico walk you through hotel lobbies. Ours walk you through the actual experience your clients will have — with the guides, communities, and suppliers who make it happen.
Hola Colega is a B2B-only DMC based in Mérida, Yucatán. We design and operate ground programs across Mexico exclusively for US and Canadian tour operators and travel agents. No direct-to-consumer sales. No channel conflict.
Our fam trips are a direct window into how we operate — and into the Mexico that boutique, cultural, and nature travelers are looking for.
- Boutique and independent properties — not all-inclusive chains
- Hands-on experiences: birding, monarch sanctuaries, cooking workshops, textile tours
- Meetings with local guides, community operators, and specialist providers
- Full cost transparency — you see exactly where your clients’ money goes
- Hosted by Sofía Valencia (Trip Design) and Rubén Encalada (Product Development)

Operators Seeking a DMC Partner
Operators currently using a resort-focused wholesaler who want a ground operator aligned with responsible, community-respecting travel.

Where’s the money going?
We share this breakdown with every proposal we send. It’s part of how we do business.
Every trip we operate distributes money through a specific chain of people and businesses. We map this in every proposal so operators and agents can speak to it with their clients — and so you know who your purchase supports.
The breakdown below reflects our typical cultural and nature program. It varies by destination and product type, and we share the specific breakdown for each fam you join.
| Category | % | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Actual Humans | 18% | Guides, hosts, specialists, and on-trip field staff |
| Mid-size Businesses | 70% | Independent companies (5+ employees) providing accommodation, transport, logistics |
| Communities | 5% | Rural and ejido-run attractions, sanctuaries, and cooperatives |
| Corporations | 7% | Large-scale properties where category requires it |
| Non-Profits | 0% | Variable — increases on conservation-focused programs |
| Government | 0% | Taxes already accounted for within the overall rate |

How we’re building this.
The program launches in phases to ensure quality before scale. Year 1 is intentionally limited to 4 fams and a closed Insider cohort.

Select Yucatán and Monarch Butterfly as Year 1 pilots. Negotiate accommodation, meal, and transport fam rates with boutique anchor partners. Set pricing and capacity.
First fam execution — Yucatán · 8 participants
50% from existing operator network (invited), 50% from new agent outreach. Full Hola Colega operations team. NPS survey and post-fam conversion tracking initiated.
Measure, adjust, confirm calendar
Analyze NPS scores, 90-day quote generation from fam alumni, and supplier feedback. Adjust pricing, inclusions, or supplier mix as needed before public launch.
Full calendar live + commercial applications open
Dedicated page live. 2027 calendar published: 5 fam itineraries. Open applications with qualification filter. Outreach to US/Canada trade press and consortia.
Colega Insider launches — closed first cohort
